Sri Lanka’s diversity, history, lifestyle, and culture are what makes it a destination that draws millions of visitors, year after year, with many returning multiple times to enjoy the vast variety of experiences that the island offers.
Roar Reports and Roar Life Merging
As Sri Lankans, we tend to forget what makes our island so unique and so captivating to the rest of the world. This is why we recently decided to merge Roar Reports, our long-standing current affairs and analysis platform, with Roar Life, so we can instead focus on providing insights into every facet of life in Sri Lanka.
The decision to merge Roar Reports was deliberated over several months, as our team pondered on how to best utilise media to present everything that is truly Sri Lankan to the world, without getting stuck in the quagmire that is politics. While positive, constructive political debate can be a good thing, we feel that too often it devolves into a mess of anger and negativity. We’d rather use our reach as a forward-thinking digital media organisation to show the beauty of the island we live in, its amazingly talented individuals, and the mosaic of diverse ethnicities and shared experience that makes us unique among all the other countries on this planet.
With the decision made, and with Roar Reports merging with Roar Life to form a content channel that focuses on life in Sri Lanka, we are now ready to tackle new challenges and move towards new horizons.
Roar’s goal is, and always will be, to provide unbiased and honest views about life in Sri Lanka. We accept both the positives and negatives, but we steer clear of the sensationalism in media that can often be detrimental to the growth of our nation.
Therefore, to celebrate the shift in our dynamics from reporting to insights, we are launching a competition for everyone who loves experiencing this country, through a competition we’re calling “Celebrate Sri Lanka”.
Photographers are encouraged to send us their best snaps by using the hashtag #CelebrateSriLanka on Facebook or Instagram, and tagging our handles (@RoarLife.lk on Facebook and/or @roar.media on Instagram).
The best out of the best will feature on a photo essay on Roar Life that will be a visual smorgasbord of what makes us great; whether it’s observing the serenity of the hilltops of Ella with your partner, taking a raft down the rapids of Kithulgala with your buddies, or dog-paddling the blue calm of Pasikuda with your family.
Celebrating Sri Lanka is more than just about the landscapes; it’s about the little things that define us as a people. It’s about celebrating ourselves, our unique culture, and the diversity of our friends and family. Celebrate Sri Lanka will just be a part of Roar’s new vision, as we keep striving to bring you articles, photo stories, and videos that will interest you, make you smile, while yet challenging your thinking.
So to all our fans and readers across the globe, thank you for being part of our journey these last 2 years, and we invite you stick with us as we go boldly where no one has gone before. Or at least where not many have gone before.
