Colombo Light Railway is a rail based, electricity run project connecting Malabe to Fort. Construction is set to begin 2020 and conclude by 2024. This is a primary step in Sri Lanka's modernisation from a middle income country to a upper middle income country.
Editor's Note: In our text-based video, Colombo Metro Aims To Transform Sri Lanka Into A Modern Metropolis, we mistakenly said that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe thanked the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for donation of $1.86 million for the LRT. In fact, the Light Rail Transit (LRT) project is a Japan funded project worth over $ 2 billion.
